Continuous models combining slacks-based measures of efficiency and super-efficiency

چکیده

Abstract In the framework of data envelopment analysis (DEA), Tone (Eur J Oper Res 130(3):498–509, 2001) introduced slacks-based measure (SBM) efficiency, which is a nonradial model that incorporates all slacks evaluated decision-making units (DMUs) into their efficiency scores, unlike classical radial models. Next, 143(1):32–41, 2002) developed SBM super-efficiency in order to differentiate and rank efficient DMUs, whose scores are always 1. However, as pointed out by Chen 226(2):258–267, 2013), some interpretation problems arise when so-called projections weakly efficient, leading an overestimation score. Moreover, this closely related discontinuity issues implementing conjunction with efficiency. 2013) et al. (Ann 278(1):101–121, 2019) treated these problems, but they did not arrive fully satisfactory solution. paper, we review papers propose new complementary score, called composite SBM, actually fixes counteracting extend different orientations variable returns scale, additive versions. Finally, give examples state open problems.

Does international trade improve environmental efficiency? An application of a super slacks-based measure of efficiency

This study analyzes the impact of international trade on environmental efficiency. Using a data envelopment analysis (DEA) model that allows us to treat undesirable outputs and super-efficiency beyond unity, we measure the environmental efficiency of four typical air pollutants—SO2, NOx, particulate matter 10 μm or less in diameter, and CO2—for 98 countries for the period 1970–2008. The resulti...

Frontier projection and efficiency decomposition in two-stage processes with slacks-based measures

In the prior literature onmeasuring the efficiency of two-stage processes, there are both radial and non-radial methods of efficiency measurement. In some cases, non-radial methods which allow all inputs, intermediate measures and outputs to change non-proportionally are more appropriate than radial methods, but they do not ensure stage efficiency or allow for the efficiency decomposition of tw...

A slacks-based measure of super-efficiency in data envelopment analysis

The current paper proposes a slack-based version of the Super SBM, which is an alternative superefficiency model for the SBM proposed by Tone. Our two-stage approach provides the same superefficiency score as that obtained by the Super SBM model when the evaluated DMU is efficient and yields the same efficiency score as that obtained by the SBM model when the evaluated DMU is inefficient. The p...

Efficiency Determination of Hospitals of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences using Simple and Super Efficiency DEA Models

Background and objectives: Managers will be able to allocate resources optimally using performance evaluation data, specifically, efficiency evaluation of organizations. An efficiency evaluation of hospitals can be provided by determining the optimal scales for each hospital, to which optimal allocation of resources will be possible. Therefore, the present study aimed to evalua...

Relative Performance Evaluation of Competing Crude Oil Prices’ Volatility Forecasting Models: A Slacks-Based Super-Efficiency DEA Model

With the increasing number of quantitative models available to forecast the volatility of crude oil prices, the assessment of the relative performance of competing models becomes a critical task. Our survey of the literature revealed that most studies tend to use several performance criteria to evaluate the performance of competing forecasting models; however, models are compared to each other ...
